If you want to show your users a unique and professional 404 error page, this is a perfect choice. This professional looking 404 page can be used for business, corporate, e-commerce, agency, etc. Entirely designed using HTML5 & CSS3 with responsive design. Fits on all screen size. Get it now for free!

Version 2.0 adds a search field to the 404 page and three sibling pages in the same design — a server-error page (500.html), a scheduled-maintenance page with a live countdown and a notify-me email form (maintenance.html) and a no-internet page whose Try Again button reloads (offline.html) — plus two ready-to-send HTML emails: the notify-me confirmation (email-notify.html) and a maintenance notice (email-maintenance-notice.html). Back Home now really goes home, the layout can no longer overlap on a short screen, and the font is self-hosted.

What’s new

  1. v2.0Sep 2026
    • A search field on the 404 page, between the message and Back Home. It is a normal GET form: point its action at your site's search page and delete the data-demo attribute (details at the top of js/main.js). Until then it shows a "Demo only" line.
    • 500.html — "Ouch!": the server-error twin of the 404, with Try Again (reloads) and Back Home. Marked noindex.
    • maintenance.html — "Back Soon": a countdown in four boxes (days / hours / minutes / seconds) to the date you put in data-deadline (empty = seven days from the visitor's first visit) and a notify-me email form that validates and shows a thank-you. Add data-endpoint to POST the address to your own server. Marked noindex.
    • offline.html — "Offline": Try Again reloads the page, and a line appears when the connection returns. Marked noindex.
    • email-notify.html — the "you're on the list" confirmation sent by the notify-me form.
    • email-maintenance-notice.html — the heads-up you send before maintenance: start time, back-by time, expected downtime, a status-page button. Both emails are table-based and inline-styled for Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail, use no images, and carry {{placeholders}} for your mailer.
    • The heading, message and button were each pinned to a percentage of the screen height (different again at every breakpoint), so on a short screen — a landscape phone — they printed on top of each other. They are now laid out as rows that cannot overlap. Wide screens keep v1's arrangement; on tablet and phone the three are stacked and centred vertically.
    • Back Home went to "#" and reloaded the page; it now goes to "/".
    • Roboto ships inside the page (woff2, the two weights used); nothing is fetched from Google.
    • Meta description added; two unused CSS rules dropped.
    • No framework, no jQuery: one stylesheet (css/style.css) and one dependency-free script (js/main.js).
    • Recolour in one place: --accent at the top of css/style.css.
